Women's Rights

Equal Pay
On average, Georgia women who are employed full time lose a combined total of more than $25 billion every year due to the wage gap. The disparity in gender wage gap does not singularly affect females; the systematic underpaying of women affects entire families, which then places early onset barriers for childhood development before they even get to the starting block. Families, businesses, and ultimately, the economy all suffer as a result.

If the annual wage gap were eliminated, on average, a working woman in Georgia would have enough money for:

  1. More than 15 additional months of child care

  2. One additional year of tuition and fees for a four-year public university, or the full cost
    of tuition and fees at a two-year community college;

  3. Approximately 69 more weeks of food for her family (more than one year’s worth);

  4. Nearly seven more months of mortgage and utilities payments;

  5. Or More than 9.5 additional months of rent

I will protect our mothers and caregivers by supporting legislation that protects them against discrimination, as employers often recommend them for lower starting salaries than women without.

Reproductive Freedom
When I was pursuing my Juris Doctor at a Catholic university, I played a vital role in forming the campus organization that provided a safe space for students to talk about women’s health and reproductive freedoms. It’s crucial that we find common ground with each other, regardless of our backgrounds, if we expect to see change.  I think we can all agree that no mother should be chained to a hospital bed while welcoming her child into the world. No teen should be shamed or forced into a decision because of misinformation disguised by fake medical clinics.

No legislation should regulate the conversations and reproductive choices women have with health professionals. Rather, it should protect them. As an advocate, as an attorney, and as a mother of two daughters, I am not only uniquely qualified to champion women's rights to quality health care and reproductive freedoms;I am the only candidate in House District 52 endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice America, NARAL Pro-Choice Georgia, and Georgia’s WIN List to champion them.
